This talking stick features a real deer antler, 2 rabbit fur wraps, goose or duck feathers, pheasant feathers, and a buckskin wrapped handle. The handle also has a section of glass seed bead work between the two fur wraps. The feathers are attached with glass trade beads. Overall length is approximately 24-28" long.
Talking sticks were used to maintain order in councils. Whoever held the talking stick had the floor and no one else was allowed to speak until he passed the stick, indicating he was finished with what he wanted to say. These are popular with school teachers and marriage councilors.
It could also be used as a dance staff.
