"White-tail" deer tail hairs are used for the shorter outside row in a porcupine roach.

Use deer tail hair to hang out from brass or tin cones for a very Eastern Woodland looking "fringe" on buckskin shirts or bags, or to dress up your artifact replicas.

The relatively stiff hairs on a deer tail also work great for fly tying. They make great legs and deer tail hair is good for spinning, muddlers, hair wings, and tails. Deer tails have a lot of long hairs.

One tail goes a long ways when tying flys or making fringes.

You can dye deer tails any color you wish with commerical fabric dyes you can get at most grocery stores. Just rinse thoroughly after the dye bath, then tack them out flat in a well ventilated spot until they dry again after dyeing.

These prime No. 1 white tail deer tails are thick and full, and come washed and dried - ready to be used. These No. 1 Prime white tail deer tails are XXX-Large, averaging 15-18" long. The longer the tail is, the longer the individual hairs will be. The tail is one of the few areas on hollow furs that have long hairs. Being hollow makes them bouyant in water when used on fishing flys and yet sheds water when used to trim clothing and bags.

These tails are deboned, scraped, stretched, and dried.
