Length: Approximately 29.5″

This coup stick is approximately 29.5″ long. It is wrapped with coyote fur and deerskin leather. It is decorated with several animal teeth and bones, horse hair, glass crow beads, brass cones, and barred turkey feathers.

Counting coup was a system of earning honor among Native American Plains tribes, where warriors gained prestige and status not by killing an enemy, but by demonstrating extreme bravery through acts like touching an enemy with a hand or a “coup stick” and escaping unharmed, or stealing an enemy’s horse or weapon.

Also used as a prayer stick, it has prayer feathers attached. In modern times, a coup stick is often used as a dance staff.

This Indian prayer, dance, coup stick is great for dance, meditation or medicine. It would also look great as rustic home decoration for southwest Native American decor or western ranch, log home or cabin.

Length: Approximately 29.5″
