These small pearl top trochus shells have been dyed in vibrant assorted colors of red, pink, blue, purple, green and gold. They are about 3/4 inch (1.90cm) to one inch (2.54 cm) in diameter. There is a natural pearl sheen to these shells.

Top trochus shells come from a large family with more than 600 species found throughout the world in a number of habitats. Most top shells prefer sheltered rocky reef or tidepools or the broad blades of seagrasses where they can scrape away algae and deposits of diatoms and other detritus as food. Many species live in the intertidal zone and are often exposed on rocks at low tide so that they may be gathered for food.

They are great to use in kid’s shell crafts, shell art, making seashell candles, shell mirrors and shell baskets, or any beach decor.
