Wow, look at all the detail in this hand beaded hatband! Hand crafted in tiny size 11/0 Cz seed beads, this hatband is adorned with feathers and a Zuni symbol called Knife Wing in brown, black, white and grey seed beads against a turquoise background.

Half man, half eagle, Knife Wing symbolizes warrior protection. The spirit of this symbol is carried into battle or other life threatening situations. Indeed, before some Zuni Pueblos went off to war, they used to tattoo Knife Wing figures on their bodies, to assure wisdom, courage, and strength in battle.

This beadwork could also be worn as a beaded belt.

The beadwork is tipped with black suede leather tabs and leather ties that are long enough for waist sizes up to 37″ (94 cm) and any hat size. The overall length of this gorgeous hand crafted belt is 40″ (101.6 cm) and the hand beaded section is 19″ long by 1/2 inch wide (48.3 cm x 1.27 cm). Cut the suede ties to fit your waist or hat.
