This single head rawhide hand drum comes with it’s own drumstick included. The frame of this drum is approximately 17″ (43.18cm) in diameter.

This is a real drum, with a good sound for actual use, NOT a wall hanger.

Drums are always in a scared manner with prayers and smudging with the smoke from sacred sage and cedar for purification.

The drum is the sacred heartbeat of the Native nation. It is sometimes referred to as the powerful medicine of thunder. It is always treated with respect as a sacred thing. Nothing is ever set on the drum, nor does anyone reach across it.

Just like humans, each drum has its own unique voice and vibration, for the simple reason that each animal and tree from which the drum is made have their own unique medicines; their spirits are part of the drum. Rule of thumb, the thicker the hide (buffalo, moose, horse), the lower the sound. The thinner the skin (goat, calf deer, elk), the higher the pitch.

The drum represents the universal heartbeat of Mother Earth – the universal mother to us all. Therefore, all drums in Native American cultures are ‘female’ and ‘human’. The first sound that was heard in the world was her heartbeat. The first sound a baby hears in the womb is the heartbeat of its mother.

This drum is made when you order it, so allow about 2-3 weeks for completion.
