This single head rawhide hand drum comes with it's own drumstick included. The frame of this drum is approximately 17" to 18" in diameter.

This drum is made when you order it, so allow about 2-3 weeks for completion.

Just like humans, each drum has its own unique voice and vibration, for the simple reason that each animal and tree from which the drum is made have their own unique medicines; their spirits are part of the drum. Rule of thumb, the thicker the hide (buffalo, moose, horse), the lower the sound. The thinner the skin (goat, deer, elk), the higher the pitch.

Use the dropdown menu below to select goat rawhide or horse rawhide for the drum head.

The heartbeat is manifested through playing a special rhythm on the drum. This rhythm facilitates healing and realignment of the four realms of human existence (Mental, Spiritual, Emotional, Physical). Listen to the hum that rests between the voice and the drum -- the hum is the spirit of the Ancestors.

The drum represents the universal heartbeat of Mother Earth - the universal mother to us all. Therefore, all drums in Native American cultures are 'female' and 'human'. The first sound that was heard in the world was her heartbeat. The first sound a baby hears in the womb is the heartbeat of its mother.

Native Americans always make the drum in a scared manner with prayers and smudging with the smoke from sacred sage and cedar for purification.

The drum is the sacred heartbeat of the Native nation. It is sometimes referred to as the powerful medicine of thunder. It is always treated with respect as a sacred thing. Nothing is ever set on the drum, nor does anyone reach across it.

This is a real drum, with a good sound for actual use, NOT a wall hanger.
