Description

This prayer fan contains barred turkey feathers, accented with a maccaw feather. The handle is buckskin wrapped and ends with a raccoon tail. The fringes on the handle are decorated with glass, brass, or wood beads.

Prayer fans are used to fan sacred herbs over the person being blessed or treated for an illness.

This could also be used as a Talking Stick. Talking sticks were used to maintain order in tribal councils. Whoever held the talking stick had the floor, and everyone else was forbidden to speak until he passed the stick to someone else, indicating he had finished all he had to say on the matter being discussed.

The fan shown is representative. Because this is a hand made item, each one will vary slightly.

This item can be shipped internationally. However, feathers cannot be imported to New Zealand.
